The Study Abroad in Florence program offers an immersive academic experience where you will take 1 course. The program include two lecturers centered on the historical and contemporary influences of the African Diaspora in Italy. Students engage in specialized lectures exploring Black Culture to understand the diverse global identities that have shaped the Florentine landscape.
Rather than just touring, students live like locals—shopping in local markets, utilizing public transportation, and navigating their daily routines in a new language. Students will partake in local traditions, try regional cuisine, and visit historical landmarks that provide context to their academic studies.

Our study abroad offering provides students with world class learning opportunities, professional development, and cultural experiences.
Programs include:
The semester and year programs provide the biggest opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a true transformative experience, due to the amount of time spent abroad. The year long program will help to leverage your language skills the most as you navigate life as a 'local'. The fall semester program runs from September through December while the spring semester program runs from late January through May. Students can earn 12-16 credits per semester upon the successful completion of their courses. Students may select from a range of Liberal Arts, Global Studies, Business, STEM, Design and Sustainability, Arts, Food, Communication, and Hospitality courses, as well as participate in cultural field trips.
The summer months provide an extraordinary time for students to partake in a study abroad experience. Florence is buzzing with activities and events. Students may select from a range of Liberal Arts, Global Studies, Business, STEM, Design and Sustainability, Arts, Food, Communication, and Hospitality courses, as well as participate in cultural field trips. The short summer programs provide the opportunity for students to take part in a 4-week program, while still leaving time for students to return home to intern, work, or travel to other destinations.

Number of College Credits:
Students can earn 3-6 academic credits by enrolling in one or two 3-credit elective courses. A U.S. university transcript will be included for the two classes, for a total of 6 credits upon the successful passing of the courses.

Classes are held Monday-Thursday.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Passport: Required
Italian Study Visa: Not required for stays under 90 days for American students. Non-US nationals should consult their local Consulate's Office for information on student visa requirements for travel to Italy.
Year in School: College students
GPA: 2.5* (students not meeting the GPA requirement should contact us)
Language: Students should speak and comprehend English fluently. Non native-English speakers must submit their TOEFL test scores, 500+ paper-based, IELTS: 5+, OOPT: 50+, or equivalent.
The winter break program provides an opportunity to study abroad during the winter holidays, usually starting immediately after the Christmas holiday.
Independent short-course programs take place during Spring break. Programming for Spring and Winter 2027 to be announced soon.
The summer months provide an extraordinary time for high school students to partake in a study abroad experience in Florence. The short summer programs provide the opportunity for students to take part in a 3-week program and enjoy the richness of this Tuscan city.
Our accredited partner university offers a unique 3-week summer opportunity for high school students to participate in a cultural, academic, and professional development offering in Italy. Students may select from an exciting range of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Art and Design, and Business courses, as well as participate in field trips and supervised afternoon activities such as sports and discovering the city of Florence. Selected courses prepare students for college entrance and the transfer of credits. Students will also be involved in a Business and Professional Development seminar that features introductions to global companies.

Daily Schedule:
Monday-Friday: Class from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. In the evenings, students will partake in group dinner and cultural or sports activities.
Saturday-Sunday: Students will be involved in daily field trips or activities.
We know that housing plays a major role in a student's study abroad experience. Housing is centrally located and is a short walk (maximum 20-minutes) to campus. Students are placed in student accommodation with resident advisors in shared apartments with their group members or in a student residence. Facilities include kitchens so that students may prepare their own meals, as well as washing machines and drying racks. Dryers are not common in Italy.
